Garner, NC (March 27, 2023) – Third party logistics firm, MD Logistics, a Nippon Express Group Company, headquartered in Plainfield, Indiana has opened their first warehouse in Garner, North Carolina. The firm hosted both local and state officials to commemorate the official ribbon cutting ceremony and to tour the new facility.

It was previously announced in June of 2022 that MD Logistics was expanding to North Carolina to extend current client partnerships and better serve the greater life sciences and pharmaceutical industry on the east coast. This new facility is located within the town of Garner, a southern suburb of Raleigh, NC. The decision to open this facility within Garner was due in part to its proximity within the Research Triangle Park (RTP) area of North Carolina, which is the leading and largest high technology research and science park in North America.

“As Garner continues to grow and diversify its economic base, we are happy to welcome a company such as MD Logistics to our community,” Garner Mayor Ken Marshburn said. “We offer an outstanding location for companies that provide logistical support to pharmaceutical, life sciences and medical device firms in this dynamic region. I know that MD Logistics will be pleased that it chose Garner, and we look forward to working with them to ensure their success.”

This facility will primarily serve as manufacturing support to various life science and pharmaceutical companies in the southeast US. In a joint collaboration, Nippon Express and MD Logistics are aiming to deploy electric vehicle (EV) transportation solutions to the local market as well, in support of their collective sustainability initiatives. These EV solutions are expected to be available in the Garner market in 2024, with other key markets to follow.

“This expansion of our organization to North Carolina has been a dream of the executive team at MD Logistics for a very long time.” States John Sell, President & CEO of MD Logistics. “We are thankful to the town of Garner for welcoming our team to the area. Their support in getting this facility open has been paramount. We are excited to see how we can continue to work together in the future. This expansion wouldn’t have been possible without the assistance of our parent company, Nippon Express, who has supported and trusted our vision for this project from the very beginning. Their support has made this expansion a success and we look forward to continuing to leverage the synergies between our organizations to achieve future mutual success. Since our founding in 1996, we have always led with the mission to take care of our customers, and in turn, they would take care of us. We thank our customers for their continued support and trust in our team, which has made this expansion possible.”

MD Logistics investment into the Garner area is anticipated to add approximately 30 jobs to the area by the end of 2023. To look at available positions and apply, visit:  https://www.mdlogistics.com/join-our-team-logistics-job-openings/
