Dear friends and valued partners,

It’s hard to believe another year has come and gone. 2022 was a year of growth, not only for our organization, but for a number of individuals on our team. Last year, we promoted 22 deserving individuals to elevated positions within our organization. I am proud of the opportunities we have been able give members of our team to advance their professional careers, bringing with them fresh ideas to our organization. I look forward to additional opportunities that await our team within the coming year as we continue to renew and strengthen our organization.

Our executive team has once again expanded in the past year. Jeff Luthman has transitioned into the role of Executive Advisor to the MD Logistics leadership team. After a long and very successful career, we are excited to continue to utilize Jeff’s expertise within the life science and pharmaceuticals industry in his new role. His extensive knowledge has been instrumental to our growth within this industry and will continue to aid our organization for some time to come. The newest addition to the MD Logistics executive team is Emilie Gerbers who was promoted to Vice President of Business Development. Emilie has had an extensive career with MD Logistics, developing a strong brand presence for MDL within the niche 3PL market and attracting new clients to our growing network. I look forward to continuing to work with Emilie in her new role to drive MD Logistics growth well into the future. I want to offer my heartfelt congratulations to both Jeff and Emilie, as well as every individual who was promoted in 2022. Our team continues to be among the best within the logistics industry and I am thankful for all of their hard work and dedication to moving our customers supply chains forward.

For the past two years, the supply chain industry experienced challenges due in part to sourcing constraints and port congestion. As inflation continues to permeate the globe, I think our industry will see challenges related to supply transition to challenges with demand as consumer behavior will continue to change. As a 3PL provider, we have not been immune to these challenges. Increased labor costs, fuel prices, supplies and  energy costs are having a tremendous impact on our business and we find ourselves faced with many of the same challenges that our customers have. We will continue to do what we can to work with our customers to ensure that we not only have the appropriate agreements in place, but that we are also taking advantage of cost savings wherever possible. In the coming year, investments in digital transformation (DX), process improvements and collaborative technology will not only provide cost savings, but will also allow our team to scale to address our customers growing and evolving needs.

The life sciences and pharmaceuticals industry continues to be a rapidly growing sector, especially as the industry continues to onshore and expand much of their manufacturing In turn, there is an additional need to support the industries manufacturing efforts and this is driving our organization’s growth in the coming year. 2022 was an exciting year for the MD Logistics team as we expanded our presence within the life sciences and pharmaceuticals industry by opening our sixth facility in Garner, North Carolina, our first on the east coast. After a successful move into this newly expanded space, we are excited to now be in the final stages of quality audits and validation and look forward to the exciting challenge that awaits us as we move customer inventories into that facility.

In the last year, we were able to leverage some synergies with our parent company, Nippon Express, and their service offerings. We are just getting started! 2022 was a big year for Nippon Express as they started the new year with a refresh of their brand image. As MD Logistics, we continue to embrace that brand in order to form a joint identity and we look forward to continued mutual success.

Reflecting on the last year, I can’t help but be thankful for the success we have experienced as a company. That success wouldn’t be possible without the tireless dedication from our team, to ensure our customers supply chains keep moving forward, despite any challenges that arise. I thank each and every member of our team for their continued commitment to our collective success. Their unwavering dedication and solutions-based approach is what makes them the best within the industry. As we look forward to the coming year, I am most looking forward to seeing where MD Logistics will go next. Our organization’s continued expansion wouldn’t be possible without the support of our loyal customers, many of whom have been with us for many years. Thank you for your endless support as our organization has grown and evolved. We look forward to providing you with the same personalized service you have come to expect from us, for many years to come. Thank you for continuing to trust us as your supply chain partner.

Sincerely,

John Sell
