As we enter our 27th year in business, we are excited to share recent organizational changes to the MD Logistics executive team.

Jeff Luthman has transitioned into the role of Executive Advisor to the MD Logistics leadership team. Over the last twenty years Jeff has been an essential part of MDL’s growth in the Health and Life Sciences sector, attracting and maintaining global pharmaceutical companies as part of the MDL portfolio of clients. Jeff joined the organization in the early 2000’s as a consultant when MDL was just entering into the pharmaceutical 3PL market. Shortly thereafter, Jeff joined the executive team full-time in the role of Vice President of Life Sciences Solutions, where he had direct oversight of pharmaceutical operations, as well as the human resources and information technology departments.

During his role as Vice President Jeff spearheaded various strategic process improvement projects and lead his teams through numerous customer implementations and new facility openings. In 2020, Jeff and fellow executive team members successfully executed an acquisition project which resulted in MD Logistics becoming a wholly owned subsidiary of Nippon Express USA. In his most recent role as Vice President of Business Development, Jeff turned his attention to the facilitation of our network expansion project to Garner, North Carolina, reaching out to the market to ensure alignment in solution development and design. Jeff also worked as a liaison between the Nippon Express and MDL Teams to continue to develop sales and operational synergies. In his new role, Jeff will continue to support the strategic growth initiatives of the organization and maintain a close working relationship with the MDL Executive Team.

President and CEO John Sell shares, “We are very happy that Jeff will be stepping into the Executive Advisor role after along and very successful career. Jeff’s tremendous impact on the growth and culture of MD Logistics will remain well into our future. I personally, along with the executive team find tremendous value in his industry knowledge and mentorship. We welcome the opportunity to continue working closely together in a regular but scaled back capacity.

Emilie Gerbers has been promoted to Vice President of Business Development.

Emilie has worked to develop a strong brand and marketing presence for MDL within the niche 3PL market, while focusing on attracting new clients and growing the MDL network. In her most recent role as Director of Business Development and Marketing, she continued to direct all corporate marketing initiatives, and became a formidable resource to the executive team, driving strategic selling and organic growth opportunities for key accounts. Emilie also participated in the 2020 acquisition project and has continued to work closely with Nippon Express team members on various sales and marketing projects.

In her new role, Emilie will continue to lead the MDL marketing team while building a strong sales team to facilitate the organizations growth strategies. Her day-to-day focus will center on developing key accounts within select markets and organizing sales and marketing initiatives between MDL and Nippon Express.

Sell continues, “We are very excited that Emilie has joined the executive team by accepting this role. Since joining MD Logistics nearly 12 years ago, Emilie has demonstrated tremendous tenacity and talent to listen, understand, and provide creative customer solutions. Her knowledge and expertise relative to Life Science and Pharmaceutical Supply chains help keep us on the cutting edge of service offerings. We are confident that Emilie will be very successful in driving our growth well into the future.”
