MD Logistics Growth

2019 was another year of growth for the entire MD Logistics organization!

Our most notable growth came with the  addition of a fourth facility to our Plainfield, Indiana campus. This facility features over 180,000 square feet of state of the art, warehousing capacity to accommodate a multitude of storage options to fit the industry’s growing need for compliant, readily available space. If you are interested in learning more about how this warehouse environment can serve your supply chain needs, connect with us.

This past year we celebrated the second year of our MD Logistics blog. In year two we were able to share additional content on topics relevant to both the industry and what we are experiencing here at MD to you, our followers and our customers. From detailing the importance of hiring veterans in the workforce to the advantages of working with a niche 3PL provider, we discussed topics relating to both people and processes within the logistics industry. We discussed automation in the supply chain with James Dolan, the Director of Logistics for Vincennes University LTEC and detailed how direct, dedicated air freight can enhance your supply chain with SEKO Logistics. Finally, we rounded out the year looking at the complex forces impacting supply chain security and detailed how you can keep your supply chain secure.

We also saw a variety of trends impact the way that we operate as both a company and a 3PL provider. Perhaps one of the top trends impacting the supply chain industry going forward will be that of an increased presence of automation aiding associates in the warehouse. Keeping this trend top of mind is what led our team to make the investment and partner with technology provider, 6 River Systems. This partnership led to a successful collaborative robot integration within our retail and consumer goods facility, bringing an additional layer of quality control to our processes and increased productivity and picking accuracy rates.

We enjoyed some fun times this summer with our coworkers and their families with a night watching the Indianapolis Indians at Victory Field. These yearly company bonding events have quickly become our favorite way to celebrate the summer and spend quality time with our coworkers outside of the warehouse.

September brought the Dave Kiebach Memorial Golf Tournament and the 12th year of hosting it at the Country Club of Indianapolis. It was a beautiful day for golf and sharing stories about our friend and late co-founder, Dave. The 12th year was another successful year raising over $20,000 for the David H. Kiebach Smile Fund in care of the Hendricks County Community Foundation. This fund grants monetary donations to deserving organizations in Hendricks County, who support causes that were near and dear to Dave.

This year we also celebrated the retirement of our long-time human resources manager, Elke Lorenzen. After 10 years with the company, Elke decided it was time to enjoy retirement. While we will miss her, we certainly wish her the best! As a result, Julissa Moskalick has joined the MD Logistics team as our new HR manager in 2020. Julissa is a Purdue graduate who joins our team with over 8 years of experience. Welcome to the team, Julissa!

Overall, 2019 was another record year of growth for the MD Logistics team, as we were named a Top 100 3PL provider by the Inbound Logistics for the 8th consecutive year. 2019 was also a year of transition as new trends impacted the logistics industry as a whole. President & CEO, Mark Sell, discussed his predictions for the future as well as how MD Logistics is responding to those predictions, now. If you haven’t had a chance, take a look at his letter! We are excited for our momentum to continue in to 2020. Thank you for continuing to be a part of our journey.
